What did Jesus mean when He told His 12 disciples to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves as sent them to fill the Great Commission?

hello dear friends this is you Humphreys

I'm glad to be back with you again they

share with you a word from the Bible

under Bible reflections and I hope and

pray that this word will bless your

heart and bless your life and you will

find strength in it just a few words

about 10 or 12 minutes but a message

that can help you find a way and know

the will of God for your life may be a

message that will bring you into the

kingdom of God oh I pray it will be so I

speak to your on a topic of the that

scriptures teach us why is this serpents

and harmless as doves we find this in

the scriptures over in in the 10th

chapter of the book of Almighty earth

and Jesus is sitting out his disciples

and others to go forth and and to preach

the gospel and it's a word not only for

them but for you and me today as

Christians we're to spread the word

we're to preach the word we're to tell

others and we're left the Holy Spirit

users and this is the thing that is

important you've got a message to tell

their friend speak it out for God let

others know what the Lord has done for

you and the Lord teaches us how to do it

now in this scripture it is an unusual

scripture but woman that I think holds

for some good advice in Matthew 10 the

verse 16 jesus said behold I send you

forth as sheep in the midst of wolves be

there for one has his serpents and

harmless as doves being one is in

serpents and harmless as doves

first of all he said I send you forth as

sheep among wolves and so Christians you

and I are represented as sheep in this

world and Jesus often often represented

us as sheep and classified US has his

sheep

we need this read I recognize that over

in the book of John the tenth chapter

Jesus said my sheep hear my voice I know

them and they follow me I hope you're

one of his sheep today I hope that you

hear his voice in the word of God and in

the voice of others and that you will

hear and follow him that you'll hear

that word in your heart from the Holy

Spirit and the Lord will teach you his

way my sheep hear my voice and I know

them and they follow me

and I give unto them eternal life that's

forever hallelujah and they shall never

perish amen neither shall any one cook

them out of my hand for my father which

gave them to me is greater than all and

none shall cook them out of my father's

hand so you see if you're once saved

you're safe forever because you're in

the Lord's hand Jesus holds you in his

hand and the devil would have to

overcome Jesus and cook you out of his

hand he can't ever do that he runs from

Jesus he flees from the name of Jesus

and so in Jesus hand is in the father's

hand

and none shall pluck them from him and

then he said I and my father are one

we're one praise God they all want the

Father in Jesus is one both of them

together is one it's like a violin and a

bowl you know they're two but there one

there one you can what is a violin

without a bowl and what is a bowl

without a violin they're together

they're together but they become one and

Jesus says I am my father are one so

praise God we have we have God the

Father and God the Son the only way we

get to the father is through the son

amen and the only way we can come the

son it's about the recognition and the

drawing of the Spirit of God the Father

to Jesus and so they work together as

one and so we see then and we are as

sheep as his sheep and sheep are they

are gentle and they are not kind of

vicious at all they never

anybody or anything with force and anger

they're very gentle they're very gentle

Christians ought to be gentle

we ought to have a spirit of gentleness

about us we will not go around with a

harsh attitude of a forceful attitude of

an attitude of you know being a stronger

and dominion over others but we ought to

be like two sheep we need to be Oh lid

instead of trying to take over

everything

and so we need to be gentle not only

gentlemen but sheep are very dependent

they were dependent upon the shepherd

they do not really know where to go

without him they don't know what to wear

what to do without him angel hardly know

how to get back to the fool without him

the Shepherd is so important to the

sheep and Jesus is important for you and

to me where is she

so we see that he sends us forth as

sheep but he sends his forth his wool

upon wolves what about wolves well the

whole world out there is God's got some

all of them we had to face that over the

book of John Jesus teaches this word he

says in the tenth chapter John Hayden is

a hireling it is not the Shepherd not

the real Shepherd he he's not the real

Shepherd at all he he who's on their

sheep and I have known the Sheep he's

not the real Shepherd but he acts like a

shepherd and he sees the wolf coming and

he leaves the sheep and fries and the

wolf comes and catches them and scatters

the Sheep

oh the hireling freeze because he is a

hireling and does not love the Sheep but

I am The Good Shepherd and know my sheep

and they know me and so it's important

that we see that we're cheaper me how do

you in the world the world is like

wolves there's a world out there there's

the French there's the old devil he's

working against the church he's working

against Christians and there's a world

lifestyle beware

Otis is an enemy to God the Bible says

if you're a friend of this whole world

you're an enemy to God and this whole

world is an enemy to God dear Christians

and so that's the reason you find

trouble out there and that's the reason

you find people that come against you

and color gets you on matters that are

not even right and mistreat you but this

is part of it we're sheep in the midst

of wolves oh please God then he said

something else he says to us not only

not only did he say that that we are

sheep among wolves but he said be damned

why is his serpents harmless as doves

why is his serpents you know I read that

and I wondered now you know I think of a

serpent I think of something evil and

poisonous and bad and that's true but

Jesus used it here in a context that

tells pitches of something very

important wise as a serpent and harmless

as a dove

first of all the serpent how is a

serpent was a serpent as wise in that

number one he conceals himself he

conceals himself in the grass you never

see us ever going down the sidewalk no

he's over in the grass where you can't

see him he's in the bushes and so it's

good sometimes Christians for us to keep

self out of it

and to keep ourselves out of it and not

try to be such a standout in and and

such a bigger than that and a lighthouse

to to speak for us and let people know

who we are and how great we are on how

much we know who we need to have the

wisdom of the serpent because when we do

that we're opening ourselves for danger

we're out there with the wolves waiting

to see us and we get out there start for

reading ourselves we're asking for the

wolf to attack and so be shrewd be

clever know how to talk to people and

yet at the same time and not put

yourself in such a position that you

will be carrying unnecessary times of

danger before others and so that's

important

then we see the harmless of the dove the

Dove is transparent and he comes in a

loving gentle way and he comes in that's

way Christians ought to go out we go out

loving people and in general way

transparent we're just what we are we're

not trying to hide anything now these

two things go together separate they

both are weak to be like the serpent

just to be shrewd in itself is not right

just to be harmless as a dove is not

good because that would be a sign of

weakness

so we seem to put them together and when

you put them together you become shrewd

and you become wise and at the same time

you're loving and you're harmless like

the dog

so we praise God we knew now that Jesus

sent us forth into the world which is

the wolves around us but he gives us

that this the divine wisdom of the

serpent and a divine gentleness and love

the dog and so that's important that we

know these things and we understand them

now then I want you to know in

conclusion that this good word and that

is he sends us for this sheep but I want

to tell you Christians sheep are

helpless without the Shepherd but you

see we have the shepherd with us Jesus

is our Shepherd he is the shepherd and

that's the secret he said I send you

forth as sheep but I'm going with you

I'm going with you I will not leave you

nor will I forsake you I'll be there

when you need me I'll be there when it's

tough I'll be there when the wolf comes

and when the wolf comes and sees the

Shepherd he frees from them let me tell

you that Jesus is your protection and

Jesus is your provision and Jesus is

your direction and Jesus is your

provider you're the Sheep would he's the

Shepherd and Bible says the Lord is my

shepherd I shall not want

he leaves me by still waters he leads me

into the green

Buster's yay even though I walk through

the valley of the shadow of death I will

fear no evil he prepares a table before

my enemies and I set out and enjoy them

my cup runneth over

surely goodness and mercy shall follow

me all the days of my life and I will

dwell in the house of the Lord forever

Jesus is our Shepherd he's our Shepherd

over in that wonderful chapter of John

it says I am The Good Shepherd the Good

Shepherd that gives his life for the

Sheep Jesus is the Good Shepherd and He

gave His life for you

that you could live and abide with him

forever amen I hope and pray that you

know this truth and you let it abide in

you today Oh trust him pray this prayer

with me and mean it from your heart say

dear God please forgive me I believe in

Jesus I believe that he is my shepherd

and I'm his sheep and I want you to

leave me and guide me and forgive me and

write my name in heaven how do you

praise God I believe you died for me and

paid for all my sins I believe you rose

again come in my heart and help me live

for you amen pray a prayer like that and

your name will be written in heaven you

become one of the Sheep of his foal and

the Bible says the day is coming when

there be one fold and one Shepherd and

we'll all be together together forever

please God together forever the sheep

and the Shepherd's God bless you in

Jesus name Amen.
